"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God."

💙 Inside Light of Christ Catholic School
There is something special about watching a student realize, “I can do this.”
For Vice Principal Carmen Semeniuk, those moments are at the heart of education: seeing something click, watching confidence grow, and celebrating students as they move from one milestone to the next.
At Light of Christ Catholic School, success looks different for every student. Whether it is mastering something new, moving into the next grade, or walking across the stage at graduation, every step forward matters.
✨ Did you know? A new K–12 Light of Christ Catholic School is being built next to the Bold Centre, creating a new home for Catholic education in Lac La Biche.

What makes a school feel like the right place for your child?
Children learn best when they know they belong. At Light of Christ, students grow in faith, confidence, character and learning, surrounded by people who want to see them succeed.
For Principal Rod Kornelsen, the most meaningful moments are often the simplest: beginning the morning together in prayer, celebrating students as they grow, and watching them show kindness and care for others.
Looking for a school where your child can be known, supported and encouraged to grow?
✨ Explore Light of Christ: Pre-K to Grade 12, full-day Kindergarten, daycare, before and after school care, and free busing for eligible students.

On Sunday, Light of Christ Catholic School staff were welcomed at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Lac La Biche, where they were introduced to parishioners alongside Trustee Donna Cloutier and Fr. Anselmo.
It was a wonderful opportunity for our school community to come together in faith and continue building the relationships that make Light of Christ such a special place for students and families.
Thank you to St. Catherine’s parishioners for the warm welcome and for being an important part of our Light of Christ community.
Happy Birthday Pope Leo XIV!
“The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you.” — Numbers 6:24–25
May his leadership bring peace, hope, and unity to the Church.

Beginning our year with prayer at Light of Christ Catholic School.
Fr. Anselmo visited classrooms this week to bless our prayer tables, learning spaces, students and staff.
Students took time to reflect on the significance of the prayer table in our Catholic faith before joining Fr. Anselmo in prayer and receiving a blessing with holy water.
It was a beautiful reminder as we begin a new school year that Christ is at the centre of all we do, present in our classrooms, our learning and the way we care for one another.
We are grateful to Fr. Anselmo for his prayers, his blessing and for helping our students begin the year surrounded by the love and presence of God.

September is the month we reflect on the Catholic Social Teaching principle of Human Dignity.
At Lakeland Catholic School Division, we believe every person is created in the image and likeness of God. This belief shapes how we welcome one another, build relationships, and create learning environments where every student is known, valued, and respected.
This month's Catholic Social Teaching reminds us:
Each person is sacred, made in God's image to know, love and serve Him & deserve to be respected.
As we begin a new school year, may we remember that every interaction is an opportunity to honour the dignity of others and reflect Christ's love in our words and actions.
