Students and staff at Light of Christ Catholic School recognized Orange Shirt Day on September 26, a time to honor the upcoming National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on September 30. Together, they wore orange, reflected, and remembered that every child matters.

GrACE — Grateful Advocates for Catholic Education — is dedicated to strengthening Catholic education and celebrating the gift it brings to our communities. This month, Lakeland Catholic is recognized as a GrACE Champion, highlighting how students and staff are embracing their faith in meaningful ways.

From retreats and IGNITE faith groups to social justice campaigns, Catholic Social Teaching, and prayer initiatives, faith is being lived out each day. Inspired by the call to “do small things with great love,” we are opening hearts, minds, and doors through Christ our Model, and Children our Focus.

Light of Christ Catholic students hit the trail for this year’s Terry Fox Run. The older students proudly walked hand-in-hand with the little ones, showing that courage, kindness, and hope are always stronger together.

With fall approaching and Alberta weather changing quickly, it’s important for families to stay prepared for bus delays and cancellations. Student safety comes first, and these tools help parents stay informed.

Parents are encouraged to sign up for the Here Comes the Bus app, which provides live updates on your child’s bus location and arrival times.

How to sign up for Here Comes the Bus:
✅ Download the Here Comes the Bus app or visit herecomesthebus.com
✅ Click the Sign Up button
✅ Enter school code 94514 and click Next, followed by Confirm
✅ Complete the User Profile box
✅ Under My Students, click Add. Enter your child’s last name and student ID number (found on your child’s most recent report card or in SchoolEngage)
✅ Once you confirm your information, you’re ready to begin!

This Sunday in Lac La Biche, our staff had the privilege of taking part in all the ministries during Mass as we were welcomed into the St. Catherine’s Parish community.

Fr. Anselmo offered a blessing over our mission as Catholic educators, reminding us of the importance of the small things we do with great love each day.

Today we celebrate the Feast of Saint Teresa of Calcutta, whose life reminds us that God’s presence can be found in simple, everyday acts. Her words, ‘Do small things with great love,’ will guide our faith journey from 2025–2029 as we live out this message in our schools and communities.
